U16 Mark Geyer Rugby League Grand Final Winners

U16 Mark Geyer Rugby League Grand Final Winners. The boys competed every Wednesday after school and won the Grand Final at Pepper Stadium in 2017. 3 buses of students from the College went to support the boys on the day.

Cross Country

We are fortunate enough to have beautiful College grounds to hold our Cross Country each year. Our CC carnivals are held on a Thursday morning and students are able to practice walking the track in their PDHPE lessons leading up to the day.

Swimming Carnivals

Our Swimming Carnivals are a talked about event in the community. All teachers and students dress up in their house themes and chant their house songs all day. It is always a great day and students enjoy coming together to support each other.

PDHPE Lessons

Giants AFL players meeting all Year 7 During PDHPE lessons and talking to them about nutrition and goal setting. Students had the opportunity to play a game with the Giants players.

Fencing

Our students had the opportunity to learn Fencing this year during sport time. They loved the opportunity and learnt a lot about the history behind it. They even had a battle against each other.

Bushfire Season 2017 - 2018

As you may be aware, the bushfire season for 2017 commenced on 1 September 2017. In preparation for the season, a bushfire assessment of our school has been undertaken by Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta (CEDP). St Columba’s Catholic College has been identified as a school at increased risk if a bush fire were to break out on a day when a Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating is issued for our area. Year 9 Information regarding the minimum literacy & numeracy standards - NAPLAN and HSC

In July 2016, the Minister for Education announced the Stronger HSC Standards reforms. These reforms included the requirement for students to demonstrate a minimum standard of literacy and numeracy to be eligible for the HSC from 2020. Students in Yr 9 2017 are the first cohort who will need to demonstrate this minimum standard of literacy and numeracy to be eligible to receive their HSC.

Year 12 - Half Yearly Assessment Period

The Year 12 Half Yearly HSC Assessment Period will take place between Monday 13th March and Wednesday 22nd March 2017. During the Assessment Period normal timetabled classes will cease. St Thomas Aquinas Primary, Springwood principal, Sergio Rosato was named Blue Mountains Citizen of the Year for the leadership he showed in evacuating 500 students during the October bushfires last year.
